About the CRA

The Calgary Rocketry Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the safe enjoyment and promotion of Model Rocketry.

Our club provides the rocketry community in Calgary, and the surrounding area, safe places to launch and fly rockets, as well as experience in building rockets. The club holds monthly meetings during which we share construction techniques and help each other with suggestions. There are often building sessions and other classes during these meetings. We try to organize at least one model rocket launch per month, weather permitting. The members of our club are a friendly group of people who are always happy to help new rocketeers with any questions they may have. The club is open to kids and adults alike.

The Calgary Rocketry Association, as well as most of its members are also involved in High Power Rocketry. To this end our club maintains a close affiliation with the Canadian Association of Rocketry. High Power Rocketry involves larger and more powerful rockets. Each year in September, the club hosts a high power launch. Special permission from Transport Canada must be obtained before a launch of this type can take place. Rocketeers from across Canada come to this launch.
